AshaKiran continues to grow steadily in providing culturally sensitive and confidential services to people experiencing traumatic/stressful situations. Currently open positions will be posted below and we will be seeking qualified candidates. POSITION TITLE: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
REPORTS TO: THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS - represented by the Chairman of the Board.
FUNCTION: To direct and supervise the overall day-to-day operation of AshaKiran shelter and related programs; to serve as liaison between the Board of Directors, agency personnel, the client population and the community served.
HOURS OF WORK: Flexible hours may be scheduled based upon the needs of the ageny. Employees should note that they will be expected to work shifts other than their own, as well as, weekends and holidays.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master degree preferred. Requires a bachelorâ€™s degree with two years of experience in the social services field or in an Administrative/supervisory capacity. Survivor of domestic violence or sexual assault preferred. Must be responsible, self-motivated, flexible and decisive individual with good communication skills, both oral and written. Working knowledge of the issue of domestic violence and sexual assault. Must have demonstrated skills in business, personnel management, program development, marketing and fund raising. Ability to make written and oral reports. Valid driverâ€™s license and good driving record.
â€¢ Oversees the general operation of all programs to ensure the provision of adequate facilities, services and personnel.
â€¢ Attends meetings of the Board of Directors and serves ex-officio on all committees of the Board. Works closely and in a cooperative manner with the Chairman of the Board of Directors to encourage active participation of Board members.
â€¢ Participates in the evaluation of the program and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors.
â€¢ Works in cooperation with the Board required by AshaKiran, Inc. Bylaws, of Directors in developing and implementing policies and procedures as the Code of Alabama 30-6-6 Minimum Standards of Domestic Violence Shelters, and any other funding or controlling agent.
â€¢ Maintains fiscal responsibility for the program.
â€¢ Prepares the annual program budget in cooperation with the Finance Committee and The Board of Directors.
â€¢ Manages expenditures in accordance with budget allocations. Co-signs checks in accordance with the policies.
â€¢ Insures that generally acceptable accounting procedures are utilized in fiscal management.
â€¢ Solicits funds by preparing and submitting proposals to current and potential funding sources.
â€¢ Solicits in-kind community support of the program.
â€¢ Maintains and utilizes statistical data on AshaKiran shelter and related programs.
â€¢ Promotes the AshaKiranâ€™s mission and vision favorably to the community at large.
â€¢ Makes provisions for continuity of administrative authority in the absence of self.
â€¢ Serves as the agencyâ€™s representative to the Alabama Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
â€¢ Employs, discharges, evaluates, maintains appropriate records and makes salary adjustment recommendations for program personnel.
â€¢ Interprets and implements personnel policies and procedures.
â€¢ Provides for professional development and training opportunities for program personnel.
â€¢ Implements disciplinary and termination procedures for program personnel.
â€¢ Maintains clinical responsibility for client case plans.
â€¢ Reviews activities related to volunteers including recruiting, screening, documentation, scheduling and management.
